In this workshop we will focus on “Color and Light”, as we enjoy and paint the spectacular beauty of Yosemite National Park. Lyndelle will address how to respond to the various landscape elements,(meadows, trees, rock faces) in plein air, selecting your best subject to translate using “ dynamic” color choices, paying special attention to developing value contrasts. She’ll go over brushwork, using both hard and soft edges to enhance and define your focal point , how to translate color, exploring different schemes based on values and temperature, and how to work from a more intuitive place, responding to the ambience around you by tapping into your own creative flow in making dynamic, exciting paintings. For both beginning and advanced painters .
The Workshop- Each full day will include lecture, painting and critique time with Lyndelle, from Thursday, through Sunday am. at various locations throughout the park. Students are encouraged to bring their spouses, as Rod, Lyndelle’s husband, will act as an informal tour guide for those coming along for the experience. At least one evening will include sharing the day’s events around the campfire. On Sunday morning there will be a final critique and brunch ( for those who wish to partake) at the Ahwahnee Hotel.
A workshop campsite is provided in the valley with limited space for campers. Private sites may be available. Nearby hotel lodging is available. You aare asked to make your own arrangements and reservations ASAP, as it is a very popular destination. Its better to reserve now and cancel if necessary. There is free shuttle bus service offering transportation to locations in the valley. Don't forget you can always take a walk or bring your bike to enjoy the lovely views along the river and meadows. Food services are available, restaurant and fast food as well as shopping. Students are responsible for transportation and meals. A Workshop flyer (with a registration form ) will be sent upon request . With full registration you'll get the comprehensive information packet .

Yosemite National Park is without doubt, one of the most beautiful natural wonders of the world, offering the visitor, nature at its best, providing some of the most dramatic scenery you may ever
see in your lifetime.
Approximately a 6 hour drive from Orange County, Yosemite Park is definitely worth the drive. It embraces a spectacular tract of mountain and valley scenery, in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, set aside as a national park in 1890. The park has a wonderful collection of waterfalls, meadows, and forests that include groves of giant sequoias, the world's largest living things.
Glacier Point is high above the valley floor ( 4200'ft) at over 7000 feet and presents stupendous vistas stretching out for many miles.
Again, because Yosemite is such a desireable location, accommodatons are priced accordingly, esp. during summer months. It is a magnificent natural wonder, and apparently the secret is out, therefore you are advised to make hotel reservations as early as possible, particularly to get the best prices and arrangements. If you are late, dont panic, there are often a number of late to last minute cancellations, so you could get lucky, but you will need to check back wtih hotels regularly. Recommended is to plan ahead to get all of the dates you want, etc.
